Preliminary Design & Cost Estimate Completed

20 July 2010

By May the design team completed the Schematic Design phase for the Hutto Municipal Complex and the Civic Block. This completed design was presented to the Hutto City Council on the 20th of May 2010. The design was very positively received as it incorporated many suggested elements that were recommended during the Public Charrette process. Also at this meeting, the preliminary cost estimate was presented to the City Council. This estimate is still undergoing review but all indications suggest that the project will be within budget.

A Successful Weekend Charrette

1 March 2010

On Saturday, February 27th, the Design Charrette was held at the Hutto City Hall. The collaboration between architects, citizens and city council members was a rousing success. The attendees were separated into focus groups and each group brainstormed about ideas they could bring to the Civic Block. The results included six uniquely different potential schemes for the project as well as a greater understanding of what the average Hutto citizen expects from this new civic construction.
